Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) is located 45 kilometres northeast of the city. Many low-cost airlines, including Ryanair, use Bergamo as their hub in Northern Italy. Milan Linate Airport (LIN), only 7 km from Milan's centre, is a smaller airport that primarily services domestic and shorter international flights.

Milan is a popular destination for both tourism and business travel. Typically, traffic jams are more frequent from 7am to 9am and from 5pm to 8pm. Certain motorways, such as the A50 and A51 around the city and the A7 between Milan and Genoa, tend to be busier than others.
