Getting started

Who can rent a Liigu car?
You just need to
  • Be at least 23 years old and no older than 70
  • Have a valid driver's license held for at least a year
  • Have a valid ID card or passport
  • Have a credit card or debit card with added credit card functionality in your name
  • Have a smartphone with Bluetooth
How can I pay?
You can pay for your rental with a credit card or debit cards with added credit card functionality.
What do the suitcase sizes mean?
The suitcase sizes marked in car features are based on the data from the ACRISS database of standardised systems in car rental. Suitcase sizes are as follows:
  • Small suitcase: 50l, 52 x 35 x 24 cm;
  • Big suitcase: 150l, 78 x 53 x 34 cm.
  • Please make sure that your bags are within these dimensions before booking a car. Switching to a bigger car after starting your rental might not be possible.
    What is Theft Protection (TP)?
    Theft Protection covers the cost of replacing the rental car if it is stolen during the rental period. In the case of Liigu car theft, you will be liable for 15% of the car’s value.
    What is Third Party Liability (TPL)?
    Third-Party Liability is a form of insurance that covers the costs of any damage you may cause to third parties while driving your Liigu car.
    What is Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)?
    Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional insurance coverage that is offered to cover damage that may happen due to traffic collisions. In the case of the Liigu car damage, you will be liable for 1500 EUR.

    Before your rental

    I have a booking. What now?
    Great! Now open the Liigu app and log in with your phone number — the same one you used when making the booking. Then upload your documents. We’ll check them and verify your identity. And you’re all set for your rental!
    How can I verify my identity?
    Follow the instructions in the app. You’ll need to take photos of your driver's license and ID document (passport or ID card) and a selfie.
    Who can drive the car?
    Only the person who rented the car can drive it — that would be you.
    How can I change my booking?
    If you want to change any part of your booking, such as the dates or times or extras, contact us. We’ll do our best to meet your needs.
    What if I’m late?
    If you experience any delays, please contact our Customer Support immediately. We will do our best to keep your car for you if you are late, but we cannot always guarantee availability if you are more than one hour late. If the car is not available to you due to a late arrival, please contact us. We will try to find a solution for you. In this case, a ‘Late fee’ will be applied.
    What about cancellation?
    Please contact us if you need to cancel your rental. You have a free cancellation up to 24 hours prior to your pick-up time.
    If your plans change at the last moment and you need to cancel your booking less than 24 hours before the pick-up, let us know right away. We’ll charge a cancellation fee of €100 and refund you for the rest.
    If you can’t pick up the car and don’t contact us beforehand, we’ll charge a No-Show fee for three days of your rental cost, but no more than the total sum of your rental.
    Security deposit?
    It’s the sum of money that we reserve on your payment card 24 hours before you are scheduled to pick up your car. You can see the deposit amount when booking a car and in the Rental details. The deposit is only used for unplanned charges, like damage to the car or missing fuel.
    We’ll release this money no later than 72 hours after you return the car if no additional expenses have occurred.

    Picking up the car

    How do I find the car?
    About 30 minutes before your pick-up time, you’ll be able to see your car details in the app — the car’s location, the license plate and a photo of the car in the car park. If you still can’t find the car, call us at +44 20 4586 9102.
    The car is damaged
    Ugh, that’s annoying for you and for us. Contact us through the Help Center before you start your rental, and we’ll help you with the rest.
    How can I unlock the car doors?
    With the app! Once you’ve found the car, you can start your rental and unlock the doors in the app. Make sure you have Bluetooth turned on. During your whole rental, you can use the app to unlock/lock the doors.

    During your rental

    Do I need an internet connection for using the car?
    For starting and ending your rental you need an internet connection. But for unlocking and locking the car doors during your rental, you don’t need an internet connection. After you have started your rental, the car and your phone are connected via Bluetooth.
    The doors won’t lock/unlock
    Stand closer to the car and turn on Bluetooth. If the problem persists, turn on airplane mode. Still nothing? Contact us.
    The app is not working
    Make sure you have the latest version of the app and check your internet connection. If it still doesn’t work, contact us at +44 20 4586 9102 or
    What if I have a car accident?
    Stay calm and assess the situation. If someone is injured, call 112.
    Call us on +44 20 4586 9102! For the coverage to be valid, we must be informed about any incident within 12 hours.
    Fill in the Accident Statement form. You can find it in the glove box.
    How can I extend my rental?
    Contact us, and we’ll see what can be done.

    Dropping off the car

    What if I’m late for the drop-off?
    If you experience any delays, please contact our Customer Support immediately. If you fail to return the rental car by the agreed time and have not extended your rental, you will lose access to the car. If you return the car more than two hours late, you will be charged a Late Fee.
    Can I return the car with an empty fuel tank?
    You can, but you’ll need to cover the cost of refueling. We recommend filling the tank yourself because this way you’ll pay less for the fuel.
    Where do I need to drop off the car?
    Return the car to the same place where you picked it up. You can check the exact drop-off location in the app.
    How can I end my rental?
    It’s easy! Follow the instructions in the app. Return the car to the drop-off location, lock the doors and tap End rental.

    After your rental

    I forgot something in the car
    Contact us, and we’ll do our best to get your things back to you as soon as possible.
    When will I get my deposit back?
    We’ll release this sum no later than 72 hours after you return your car if no additional expenses have occurred.
