The best way to explore fascinating Toulouse? By car!

Car rental is a great way to explore Southwestern France and the mountain roads of the French Pyrenees.

You can expect mostly moderate traffic in and around Toulouse. However, you might wish to avoid the rush hour between 7 AM and 9 AM, and between 5 PM and 8 PM. Around the holiday season, roads are busier as many winter sports fans visit the ski centers near Toulouse. For your safety on the snowy mountain roads, Liigu has got snow chains as an extra to your rental car.

For driving in Toulouse city, we suggest renting a smaller or compact car. If you plan longer trips to the vineyards and scenic villages of Languedoc and Gascony, then a convenient SUV or a more spacious car is a great choice.

The speed limit in urban areas across France is typically 31 mph (50 km/h) and sometimes 18 mph (30 km/h) in downtown areas. Two to three-lane roads have a speed limit of 80 km/h (49 mph), and four-lane roads of 68 mph (110 km/h). On motorways, the speed limit is 80 mph (130 km/h). All these limits are lower in case of rain or snowfall. It is also good to know the different colors of the French road signs. Green ones point to a non-highway or a "free road" while blue signs indicate a highway route and are often marked "péage" which means you’ll need to pay a road toll.
