From 6 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM there are generally more traffic jams. When planning your accommodation, keep in mind that there are limited traffic zones (ZTL in Italian) in the city center. Only residents are allowed to drive to these zones. So, if your hotel is in a ZTL, then you’d need to park your rental car further away.

For driving in Pisa city, we suggest renting a smaller or compact car. If you plan longer trips to the Tuscan countryside, Chianti wine region or beaches near Livorno, then a convenient SUV or a more spacious car is a great choice.
