The best way to explore the south of Spain? By car!
Car rental is the most convenient way for discovering the South of Spain and stunning beaches along the Costa del Sol.
Malaga region is a popular tourist destination. Therefore, we encourage you to plan more time for the road trips, especially during summer. You’d also want to consider the rush hour in and around Malaga city. From 8.30 to 9.30 AM, 1.30 to 3 PM and 7 to 9 PM there are generally more traffic jams. The historical center of Malaga is car-free and street parking around the area is limited. To save time and hassle of looking for a parking space, we recommend public car parks, although sometimes they can be quite expensive.
If you plan to drive to the famous Caminito del Rey walkway and beaches near Malaga, it’s a good idea to rent an SUV or a more spacious car for your comfort.
The speed limit in urban areas across Spain is typically 50 km/h (31 mph). The motorways have a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h (75 mph) and the rural roads — 90 km/h (55 mph). Even if locals tend to drive fast and jump a red light, it’s smart to avoid speeding near Malaga. A small exceeding of the limits can result in a significant fine.
