Car rental with Liigu app — how does it work?
It’s like having your own car waiting for you in Riga airport!
With Liigu, there is no need to go to a car rental desk. You’ll only need your smartphone to find the car and start your rental — we’ll give your all the necessary directions. So, after landing, you can go directly to the parking lot and drive off.
Need a car in Riga downtown? We’ll arrange it. Liigu has suitable rental cars for cruising the busy urban areas as well as the country roads.
Travelling with family? We’ve got child seats for a safe journey with your little ones. Well-behaved pets are welcome too. All our rental cars are carefully cleaned and disinfected. Also, for unexpected changes of plans, we offer free cancellation until 24 hours before your pick-up.
Explore the wonders of Latvia the best possible way — by car!
Car rental is the most time-saving way for visiting the forests, wetlands, remote sights and the impressive seaside. Latvia is a small country and you can drive from Riga to almost anywhere within a couple of hours.
The traffic in and around Riga is mostly easy to handle. However, during the rush hour between 7 and 9 AM, and between 5 and 7 PM, there are many traffic jams, especially close to bridges across the Daugava river. To save time, it’s better to avoid driving during these hours.
For driving in the city, a mid-size car is a good choice. If you plan a road trip in Latvia or visit beaches near Riga, we recommend renting an SUV or a more spacious car for your comfort. If you wish to rent a car in Riga during the winter months, you’d want to consider a four-wheel drive for extra safety. We’ll take care of the obligatory winter tyres and equipment.
The speed limit on urban areas across Latvia is typically 50 km/h (31 mph). On public roads, the limits are usually 90 km/h (55 mph), and on high-speed roads, it is allowed to drive with a maximum speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).
